Guh. It’s so hot here today in New England. Probably not as hot as in the southwest (Hi, nomadshan!) but still hot, and it’s the icky sticky kind usually. Makes me miss the dryness of living in So. California – not to mention the kickass Mexican food, but I digress.
My blogero pal Andy is a crazy guy and is actually baking bread in this weather. Dork. But it looks delicious! Now all he needs is some strawberry jam, and I might be talked into leaving my cave. Maybe. :-/ Check it out – yummy bread, ahoy!
Yes Andy, I stole your post so it would give me something to blog about because you know that’s how I roll.
I’m going back to gluing stuff. Well, actually, I’m painting today. Here’s a sample of what’s up so far.
This is a mini lunch box I got at the craft store for a buck. It’s cool because it’s purple, but sometimes you just want to up the awesome a little bit.
I disassembled the box so I could paint it freely. I used a little bit of alcohol ink, some gesso and rubber stamps, and there you go. It’s still in progress.
I didn’t always agree with Tim Russert, but I had a lot of respect for him. I’ll miss him on the Sundays.
It’s nice that people across the political spectrum have been so generous with their praise for Tim Russert — well most everyone.
The knuckleheads at Hillaryis44.com are as obnoxious as advertised. A sample comment:
Admin, I will not be polite… Karma baby that is all I will say, first Kennedy and his brain tumor, then the flooding in Iowa and now Russert… Obamatrons beware the wrath of God, you could be next
Well. A person would have to be living in a cave to not know how the Indiana and North Carolina primaries went down last night. I was expecting the full court spin today by Team Clinton, but it was surprisingly quiet.
Could this mean that this primary is winding down? I hope so. I’m tired. I can’t imagine how tiring this is for the candidates.
Great Time magazine cover. Yeah. That’s my President.
The note in the corner says: *Really, we’re pretty sure this time.
Sorry about that. I guess I should’ve mentioned that sometimes I disappear for a while. I talk, and talk and talk, and then I like to listen for a while. That’s what I’ve been up to lately. Listening. How about you? Are you well? I hope so.
I’ve been gluing more stuff. This is my latest project:
Guh. What the hell is up with WordPress? They’ve changed the picture uploading deal, so now I can’t get my picture to upload. Consider this a place holder until I can get this shizz figured out. :-/
My friend Moxie sent me a label maker that I have been looking everywhere for (Thanks, Moxie!), and so I used the label maker to make the beauty tag, and I also used part of the cardboard box that she shipped it to me in. I like to use up that kind of stuff in crafty projects. Better than the landfill, I guess.
So, it’s Spring. Go glue something.
Update: Okay, I got the picture uploaded and posted, but jeez-louise! Upgrades are supposed to make your life easier, right? Why the heck did WordPress make their pictures uploader such a pain in the neck?
I am one of the millions of people who’s financial information was leaked in the Hannaford Supermarket data breach. I got off lucky — less than $100 was charged on my account, and as far as I can tell nobody has opened any additional credit accounts in my name. It was just a pain in the ass to have to cancel my card, and do the whole reporting thing, police report, etc.
What gets me though is that Hannaford knew about this in December 2007, but didn’t get around to contacting their customers until the end of March 2008. That’s just neglegent. Speaking of neglegent, how’s this for making your customers feel secure:
Hannaford Bros. Co. disclosed this week that the intruders who stole up to 4.2 million credit and debit card numbers from the grocer’s systems did so by planting malware programs on servers at each of its stores in New England, New York and Florida.
The malicious software was used to intercept the payment card data as the information was being transmitted from Hannaford’s point-of-sale systems to authorize transactions. The malware then forwarded the stolen card numbers as well as their expiration dates to an overseas destination.
The discovery of the mass malware installation prompted a wholesale replacement of Hannaford’s store servers. In addition to disclosing that the malware had been installed on all of Hannaford’s store servers it was designed to intercept the so-called Track 2 data that is stored in the magnetic stripe on the back of payment cards. The malware then batched the card numbers and expiration dates and “periodically transmitted the data to an offshore ISP.
And Hannaford doesn’t have any idea how this breach occurred. Nice.
From here on out when I do go to Hannaford, which is the only supermarket in my town, it’s strictly cash and carry — otherwise, I’m hauling my cookies to Shaw’s.
Most folks don’t think they have time for political activism, when in truth, if you have an e-mail account, you have the power!
I love DFA (link on the sidebar) because they are all about getting people interested and involved with grassroots, local politics. Sometimes things on a national level can seem overwhelming, but you can make small changes locally that can have immediate influence on your day to day life.
In the spirit of that, here is an e-mail that I got from DFA:
Dear Susan,
Enough is enough.
John McCain and the Republicans are out there every day bashing the Democratic nominees for President. Sadly, so are some Democrats.
“Mr. Richardson’s endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out (Jesus) for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic.”
That’s what longtime Clinton strategist James Carville had to say about Bill Richardson’s endorsement of Senator Obama.
This is not acceptable. We have a war to end and John McCain to beat in November. James Carville is busy creating enemies within the Democratic Party by attacking a respected, sitting Democratic governor.
Send Mr. Carville a message that this offensive attack has no place in Democratic politics. Sign our open letter to both Democratic candidates today!
Already tens of thousands of Democratic voters have banded together to urge Senators Clinton and Obama to fight McCain, not each other.
Clearly, the Clinton campaign has not gotten the message. James Carville has refused to take back his remarks and Senator Clinton has not denounced or rejected this character assassination of Governor Richardson, a fellow Democrat and former Clinton appointee.
Let’s keep our eye on the ball. Democrats need to fight McCain, not each other. Whether you support Senator Clinton or Obama, sign the open letter right now and we’ll deliver all the signatures to both Democratic candidates.
It had to be said. If Hillary Clinton is unwilling or unable to take responsibility for how her campaign is being run, and stop doing McCain’s opposition research for him, then she really is lost.
The political blogsphere is very divided these days. I try to keep an open mind and not read too much into pro-Hillary sites vs. pro-Obama sites, but as this race has tightened up, the tone of the comments by both sides have gotten to be a bit much for me, so I find that I don’t spend as much time reading certain blogs as I used to. As expected, Keith made quite a splash tonight. There are a few threads over at DailyKos that are supportive. Not surprising, as it is a very pro-Obama site. Keith even has his own login. Good times.
During the discussion, it was brought up that some of the pro-Hillary blogs are organizing e-mail campaigns to protest Keith’s Special Comment. The funny thing is, that Keith was much harder on the Clinton campaign advisors than he was on Hillary herself, although, he does call her out for not rejecting and denouncing Geraldine Ferraro’s comments. KO is actually what I’d consider a Clinton supporter. He’s mentioned on Countdown several times that he’s had contact with the Clintons on certain occaisions, and he is a fan of the Big Dog.
Anyway, in my travels on the other side, I came across this comment about KO.
Well, he mostly talked about how bad Hillary’s advisers are. Not so much about Hillary. And the truth is, this race stuff, as terrible as it sounds, IS WORKING. Maybe not in states with large amounts of blacks. Like Mississippi. And Wyoming. So let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater, Keith. The Clintons know a lot more about winning a race than you do, and their comments about race are not without strategy. I was not impressed, Olbermann.

Wow. Just. Wow. That’s just breathtaking.
The Democratic leadership needs to get a hold of this problem NOW. Before we manage to poison ourselves to the point where ALL Democrats are unelectable.
And, if you’re inclined, show Keith some love by voicing your support to letters@msnbc.com
